“I’m going to watch a movie with you,” Angie said

on

“That’s what dreams are for,” she said.

“I guess that’s true,” I said.

I look at Angie and her reflection in the window. The sun hits both of us.

“Here comes my life coach.”

“Do you want me to go? I don’t want you to come with me.”

“I will only be gone 10 minutes.”

“Ok. I will go.”

“You will miss the end of the movie,” Angie said.

“I know.”

“I am going to go do my nails so you will have company.”

I go to put on my glasses but she stops me.

“I know how to do my nails.”

“Do you?”

“I do it with my nails. I don’t need you to come.”

“Really? How do you do it?”

“I don’t know. Something else I don’t want to talk about.”

She’s right.

“I am going to do my nails,” I said. “You are going to watch a movie.”

“Ok.”

I put on my glasses and look at the movie. I don’t see Angie but the movie
is going to stay in my mind until I wake up.

I watch the movie with Angie. It’s about a guy that gets killed and wakes up in
a hospital. I know this is bad because it’s my worst nightmare.

When it’s over, I go to Angie. We are in a hospital room. I’m holding her hand
close to my cheek. She is staring at me with her brown eyes and her head
turning from side to side. Her hair is piled on top of her head. I lean in
getting closer to her and my face is close to hers. I hold her hand. She is
smiling and she asks me if I am alright.

“I’m ok,” I said.

“I’m glad because I thought I would never see your smile again.”

“You don’t have to see my smile. I’m not going anywhere.”

“I know,” she said.

“It’s hard for me to leave you. You are the only person that knows me.”

“I know,” Angie said as she kissed me on the cheek.

“But I will always love you.”

“I know.”

“What about your father? He is coming back here soon.”

“I love you too,” she said. She is holding my hand and it is like a roller
coaster going up and down. Her hand is in mine. I don’t want to let go of her
hand.

“I love you too. I love you…no wait, I love you so much,” she said.

“I love you too. Let us go please. We don’t have much time.”

“Wait,” she said.

I put my hand around her hand, holding it tightly so it won’t slip off.

“I don’t want you to leave me again,” she said.

“I know. I won’t.”

She takes my hand and we are standing up.

“It’s too bad about your life coach,” she said.

“I know.”

“You are a great friend,” she said as she smiled.

“I know and I am sorry I didn’t see the movie with you.”

“I don’t mind,” she said. I feel so much better now. I am going to tell her.

“Please don’t,” she said.

We go in the other room. There is a lot of flowers. I don’t really want to see
them. I know what they are for. I don’t want to open up this box and find that
somebody died.

“There is someone special in this room. It’s you,” she said.

“You should’ve told me before,” I said.

“I didn’t know how to tell you,” she said.

I sit next to her and she looks at me.

“I love you too,” I said.

“I also love you,” she said.

We sit there. I don’t want to leave but I know I have to. This is a part of
my life I can never get out of.

“Don’t leave me,” she said.

We go back to the room. I lean into her and she kisses me on the mouth.

“Don’t leave me,” she said.

We sit in silence for a few minutes. I can’t tell her I love her again.

“I’ll call you,” she said.

“Please don’t. Don’t leave me,” I said.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you too,” I said.

She kisses me on the lips and puts her hand over my right eye.

“This is the first time we have kissed without the filter in the other side of
this room,” she said.

“I know,” I said.
